hanabi

I started carving as a way to unwind from the relentless accountability for precision that goes along with surfboard shaping. I don't sketch or plan out how the flower patterns grow, so it feels good to just let each petal find its own place in the piece.

I work mostly with wood, but I've been experimenting more with making these hanabi designs on surfboards, fins, and other objects that might need some totemic adjustment.
